n 2003, the powder coatings market in central and eastern European countries was valued at more than 50,000 tons and more than E160 million, according to a new study from market research firm IRFAB.
Approximately 50% is locally manufactured and the balance imported, according to the study. IRFAB reports that the powder coatings market in the Middle East and Africa is at the same level of more than 50,000 tons. Penetration of powder coatings differs by country from four percent up to 10%. With growth rates that vary by country and region from seven and more per year, by the year 2013, the powder coatings market in central and eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa, will pierce the 200,000 tons mark.
